329 medal competitions
PARIS (KXAN) — In Paris, France in 2024, about 10,000 competitors from all around the world will be competing. KXAN is tracking the overall number of medals earned by each participating team across 329 medal events.
117 athletes from India
A total of 117 Indian competitors will participate in 69 events spanning 16 sports disciplines. There will be 47 women and 70 men competing for 95 gold medals. Manu Bhaker's bronze medal in shooting opened India's account.
The gold on medals isn't real gold. In addition to having roughly six grammes of gold, gold medals must contain at least 92.5% silver according to International Olympic Committee regulations. The silver medal is mostly silver and some iron while the bronze medal is mostly made of copper and with some zinc and iron.
