A total of 50 stocks from 23 diverse economic sectors in the NIFTY index. 

 The efficiency of these stocks determines the NIFTY's valuation. 

 The free float capitalization-weighted approach of all 50 companies is used to create the index. When measured to the base period on November 3, 1995, the price of the index represents the total market value of all the securities included in the index. 

Other names for the NIFTY index includes Nifty 50, Nifty simple, & Nifty CNX.
